Dear Club Members:

 THANKS

I want to express appreciation to the club for the recent “Un-Sung Hero” award.  It just reminded me again of how much I value Scotts Valley Rotary and our affirming membership.  I have believed for a long time that we have an extraordinary club, and as I work in consultancy beyond our club – my belief has been confirmed many times over.  So, thanks so much for this honor.

WEBSITE UPDATE

Working with President Georgie, this year I have tried to find a balance for the integration of our club main website (external) and ClubRunner website (internal).  I have also met with Randy on the matter.  We have used a number of formats and configurations in order to avoid overlap and duplication.  As you know, ClubRunner is oriented heavily to internet traffic which is already familiar with Rotary.  It has very little orientation toward the non-Rotary public.  So, in light of this, I have decided to make our main website to focus mainly on the external traffic.  Here is the new configuration:

1.     What’s Happening – Page 1 or “Home” page.  Will focus on promotional things the club is doing or has done that would be of interest mainly to the public.

2.     Become a Rotarian – Page 2.  The recruitment page.  Will focus on the process of becoming a new member, what is required, etc.

3.     About Us – Page 3.  This is the typical company information page.  Will focus on the president, board, contact information, etc.

4.     Opportunities to Serve – Page 4.  This page is for the committee chairs, project managers, group leaders, etc. to promote their work, events, etc.

5.     Member’s Page – Page 5.  This page is for club documents, pictures, and the link to ClubRunner.

I have a volunteer outside our club (someone who wants to learn website development) who will be helping me with some of the technical work.  This has allowed me to expand back to 5 pages.  Rotarian Kathryn will be helping me with the website from within the club.  As you review these 5 pages, keep in mind that they are still being developed, and some will be constantly changing.

CALENDAR

Randy has asked that I serve as program chair for the next year.  The link to our calendar is on the heading of every page.  The link to my email is on the “About Us” page.  I plan to schedule several months in advance.  So, if you have an annual event that impacts the calendar or would like to have a program, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Jimmie Brewer
