The project, which was supervised by a team of medical professionals headed by Bob Pagett (Scotts Valley Rotary Club), president of Assist International, provided and installed much-needed specialized equipment to the maternity ward of the Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

A group of 12 accompanied the medical team, and in addition to participating in the Vientiane project, also helped with another project in conjunction with Feeding Dreams of Cambodia.

This project gave new Beanie Baby toys donated by a generous Bay area resident to approximately 200 children and provided funds for the local school in Ta Vien Village, Siem Reap, Cambodia –including construction of a bicycle shed now named for the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz.

In conjunction with these projects, the group toured throughout Southeast Asia, visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia; Hanoi and Halong Bay in Vietnam (including an overnight boat tour on the bay); and Luang Prabang in Laos.
