Hello fellow Rotarians,
Well we have been in Seoul for 2 full days...

I am traveling the first leg of this trip - Rotary International Convention with Past District Govenor Joe Hamilton.  We met at SFO early to ensure no waiting at security, started the day out with a drink and breakfast...we flew Singapore Air which is a great airline, they put in new 15" screens and new games in the entertainment center so the 12 hour flight over was not that bad, although my meal choices were, eel and noodles or indian vegetarian, was definitely not Bruno's!

We arrived at 9pm Saturday night and the hotel is very nice.  Everything is high tech including the bathroom (every time you sit on the toilet there is a dinging sound one ping, when you get off  2 dings)  I thought I was loosing it, you can't tell if it is coming from the bathroom or the room, you press a button and the seat heats up immediately)  and it has all the other amenities which I won't go into any details suffice it to say you are sparkling clean when you leave the bathroom!  and the wifi is fantastic.

Sunday we attended the opening ceremony which was very nice about 2 hours long...it's interesting that they play all 70's and 80's music, disco and classic rock hummm...we also visited the house of friendship which was a little overwhelming.  We visited our District interactors which was great...facebook says 47k people have checked in there  I think the official count is over 35k attendees.  Upon returning to the hotel we ran into some people Joe knew and I had met at pets, we shared a drink and traveling stories....I had hit a brick wall so to speak and went to bed!

Monday we attended the general session which has 4 main speakers, first was Mahatria Ra, he is a spiritual motivational speaker - I would liken him to Joel Osteen...very good, then the CEO and President of National Geographic Gary Knell, Sarah Parcek - she is a Rotarian and a world renowned archeologist, she is revolutionizing archeology by using satellite photos to determine where ruins are located...and Dananajaya Heterachchi 2014 Champion Toastmaster.  All were very inspiring.

* I must say hanging with Joe at an International Convention is akin to being with a rock star, everyone knows him and wants some time!
