Inspired by the national movement of Secret Santas, where people anonymously pay off lay away plans, Scotts Valley Rotarians wanted to help these people who are struggling to provide Christmas presents for their kids.  The idea of the Secret Santa is to find a family who is trying to buy their kids toys through a lay-away plan.  In this tough economy, many people are getting behind on their lay-away plans.  You ask the store if you can secretly pay off the balance on one of these delinquent accounts.  At our last meeting, Scotts Valley Rotarians took up a collection and Pamela marched down to K-Mart and found that someone had laid away some toys hoping to pay for them before Christmas.  They were behind on the payments and it looked like they would be unable to pay for the toys before Christmas.  With the money collected at the Rotary meeting, we were able to pay off the entire amount and K-Mart contacted the family to say a Secret Santa had paid for their toys. Once again, Scotts Valley Rotarians answer a call to action.

Merry Christmas!!
