On Monday, May 9, 175 people gathered at Mount Hermon Conference Center to recognize the academic achievements of our brightest and most talented students in the Scotts Valley area. Our Rotary Club handed out 41 certificates of achievement and small cash rewards to middle and high school students while their families and club members cheered them on. To highlight the evening, four graduating seniors from SV High, two Bethany University students and one Cabrillo College nursing student delivered heart warming, inspirational speeches as they accepted college scholarships. One parent commented to me that this event made her whole family feel special - the sense of community pride was evident and it was a great honor for her daughter and her whole family to be recognized by the Rotary Club. Overall, the evening was deemed a success.
